2022 Strokers Open

Two, 10-man teams faced off at the 1st annual Strokers Open that took place at Lakes of Taylor in Taylor, MI.  The tournament mirrored a Ryder Cup style format with a game of 3-6's, making it Best Ball (1-6), Alternate Shot (7-12), and Scramble (13-18).

Team Darnell (Blue Team) gave us a great performance during the inaugural Strokers event on Saturday, June 25th.   With great weather on everyone's side, Team Darnell went on to win 4 of the 5, 2-man match ups at a challenging Arthur Hills course.

Match Ups & Results:

1.) Trevor Darnell/Dave Salliotte  vs.  Jake Sterling/Mitch Baker

- Trevor and Dave took an early lead going 2-up through the first 6 holes of this match.  Solid short game and putting helped Baker and Sterling pull it back to all square after 9 but in the end, it was Darnell and Salliotte coming out on top with a 1 up victory.

2.) Boog Nitchman/Max Braniecki  vs.  Riley Robinson/Tyler Beggs

- Robinson and Beggs seemed to be unstoppable from the start.  They both took a 3-up lead through 5 holes, and it didn't stop there.  Both Beggs and Robinson continued to show poise and power off the tee along with their putting game, resulting in a 6 & 5 win over Nitchman and Braniecki.

3.) Ryan Bosanac/Scott Darnell  vs.  Jeff Sterling/Scott McGee

- An interesting matchup between a pair of long hitters and two short game studs.  Ryan Bosanac and Scott Darnell took an early lead going up 2 through the first 3 holes.  Bosanac handled the long drives and Darnell was consistent with all irons and wedges.  On the other side, too many pars and not enough birdies caused the slow start by Sterling and McGee which in the end, was the reason for their 4 & 3 loss.

4.) Cole Jennings/Dom Moscardelli  vs.  Matt Hassel (Beans)/Dillon Montalvo

- Tough battle early-on between these two teams but in the end, it was Dillon Montalvo and Matt Hassel who came out on top.  Team Red, consisting of Cole Jennings and Dom Moscardelli, were only down 2 going into the final 6 holes.  A strong performance from Jennings kept Team Red in contention through the first 12 holes with a solid showing from Moscardelli during alternate shot but it wasn't enough.  Hassel and Montalvo took charge during their scramble series and ended up victorious with an 8 & 7 win.

5.) Jason Brooks/Jake Roe  vs.  Matt Ciacelli/David Salliotte

- This battle came down to the end.  Literally, the last putt to seal the deal.  Jason Brooks and Jake Roe were in a tight race with Matt Ciacelli and David Salliotte.  In the end, it was determination and heart that gave Blue Team the victory.  "My partner and I picked each other up very well.  When one of us were struggling, the other was there. We both knew that we were not going to come out of it with a loss and our determination led us to victory." - David Salliotte.  Final score - 1 up.
