2023 Strokers Open

365 days after the 1st Annual Strokers Open, we found ourselves back on the course at Carrington Golf Club in Downtown Monroe.   This Ryder Cup format was the same as last year with the addition of 4 more players.

Team "Glizzy No Bun" took the victory with match play ending in a tie at 3-3, and was followed up with a 3-hole playoff win.

Match Ups & Results:

1.) Jeff Sterling/"No-Call & No-Show Baker"  vs.  Matt McCormick/Jake Roe

- With an unfortunate douche move from Mitch "No-Show" Baker, Jeff Sterling was forced to be the Wolf of his own team.  Only down 1 hole through the first 6, Jeff relied on his short game to keep the gap close but it wasn't enough.   Matt McCormick was praised for his long ball hitting and Jake Roe backed him up with the short game.   Final score was a 7 & 6 win.

2.) Boog Nitchman/Jake Sterling  vs.  Trevor Darnell/Riley Robinson

- "What started out as a joke, has turned out to be a disaster." This match had been long over due and the two pairings went toe-to-toe right from the beginning.  All square through the first 3 holes but some sharp shooting by Riley and Trevor allowed them to go 1-up after the lengthy par-5 4th.  That lead didn't last long as Jake Sterling and Boog Nitchman birdied both #5 and #7 to go 1-up.  These next 9 holes were a roller coast of great shots, lipped out putts, and tough approach shots from each pairing.  Holes 16 & 17 we were all-square and with only the par-5 18th left, Sterling and Nitchman pulled away with a birdie for a 1-up victory.

3.) Nick Diehl/Dave Salliotte  vs.  Scott Darnell/Anthony Ciacelli

- This match was too close to predict in the beginning.  After an early lead through 2 holes, Scott and Anthony found themselves all-square with Nick and Dave by hole 11.  From then on, it was a pro-like performance from Darnell and Ciacelli as they carded 4 pars in a row with a lone birdie to grab a 3&2 victory.

4.) Jason Brooks/Mike Bradley  vs.  Dillon Montalvo/Gary Simmons

- This group welcomed two new golfers to the Strokers Open (Gary & Mike).  As anticipated, this was another close match between the Glizzies and Team Red.   We were all-square through the first four until Jason and Mike grabbed a 1-hole lead for three straight holes.   That didn't last long as by hole 10, Dillon and Gary crawled their way back to take a 1-up lead.  Unfortunately for Team Glizzy, their lead was taken from them and was never given back for the last six holes as Mike and Jason went on to take a close 1-hole victory.

5.) Cole Jennings/David Salliotte III  vs.  Tyler Beggs/Dom Marscadelli

6.) Ryan Bosanac/Matt Sauser  vs.  Matt (Beans) Hassell/Scott McGee

- A match that ultimately decided a tie between each team, golfers Ryan Bosanac and Matt Sauser emerged victorious against the formidable duo of Matt "Beans" Hassell and Scott McGee.  Down 1 hole early on through the first two holes, Ryan and Matt bounced back to grab a 2-hole lead going into the back 9.  From there, they never lost momentum.  Consistency was key for them during the last 9 holes and in the end, they went home with a 2&1 victory.
